Discipleship
A few days ago, I posted THIS BLOG about the fact that I think we are in a Discipleship Crisis.  Read it HERE if you have not already.  Someone popular must have linked it or shared it, because it has recieved almost 14,000 views in just a few days...WAY more than I ever get.

Some of the repearting questions that I have recieved from the post (and get through other channels too) are like this:

Should I seek out someone to disciple me? Or wait on someone to care about me enough to reach out?  Will I look pushy or desperate if I ask someone to mentor me? Won't God move on their heart if they are supposed to disciple me?

My short and loud answer: DO NOT WAIT AROUND ON THEM TO ASK YOU!!!  YOU ASK THEM!!!

Look, this is a much too important matter for you to play with or wait on.  Your life undiscipled and unshaped by others more mature than you in the faith will NOT lead you where you want to be. Trust me. This is way too important a matter for you to expect someone else to initiate for you.  Your future depends on it.  Your growth depends on it.  Be the agressor.

Others have said something like this:

I do not know where or how to locate, identify and ask a person who can disciple me. I will blog about that soon.

For now, read this post as well.  Remember that there are three types of discipling relationships:

  1. Up (someone more mature shapes you)
  2. Down (you as the more mature one shapes another less mature Jesus follower)
  3. Across (peer discipling- you and a peer-ish person are back and forth in discipling one another on various issues)
